How to Dress for an Interview When It's Freezing

Now that it’s actually freezing outside, dressing for important meetings and interviews requires extra attention to outerwear.

While oversized blanket jackets and puffy coats may be appropriate for running around to brunch or the gym, a meeting with a prospective client or employer calls for a polished piece: something you can keep on as you walk through the door instead of throwing it off, embarrassed, into a dark corner.

A double breasted wool trench is a classic option, especially in a neutral color like camel or black. Fill in color with accessories - your gloves, bag, scarf, etc. Underneath go for a sleek layered look (nothing too bulky). I like to slip on a silk short sleeved blouse under a thin crewneck for maximum sleekness.

I’ve been really into mini wool skirts lately. This plaid one is from Madewell, and I have another amazing wool skirt from Gap that I bought in high school, yes high school, and it’s still kicking.

How do you dress in the freezing weather for work, meetings, and the like?
